A.G.A.S

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

It’s clubpub tonight, which sees the launch of ‘Gif jockey 2.0′, ‘ A piece of software that seamlessly joins together loads of crap animated gifs’. It’s gonna be real special, the ultimate vj experience some might say.

As the pressure mounts to submit the ultimate animated gif, I timely stumble across the Animated Gif Appreciation Society. Perhaps this will inspire me, or will I just ‘borrow’ one of the showcased gif sequences?

4th floor action!

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

We moved office on Monday, not too far mind - Just upstairs to the fourth floor of the biscuit building. The new space must be about 3/4 times the size of our old space down on the third floor, not surprisingly we are loving every minute of the new space!

Have a gander at Tom’s flickr set documenting the development our new home.

Zopa on BBC 1

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

You’ll have to forgive me for another team Poke trumpet blowing post, but the good stuff keeps on coming!

This time I want to tell you about Zopa, a project I was working on this summer. The company was featured on the BBC news a few days back. Watch the BBC spot for an understanding of how it all works…

Our brief was to bring the community aspect of the site to the fore and demonstrate how people lending to other people is quite simply the best way to do money, aswell as refreshing the look and feel of their existing website inline with the branding the company had developed with North design.

We hope to have made Zopa a far more social experience by introducing an engaging flash environment populated with real Zopa lenders and borrowers, who have real data attached to them for users to interrogate and learn more about Zopa and its markets.

The characters you meet at Zopa were illustrated by Cookie. We are all really enjoying seeing the team at Zopa introducing the characters across the site, from paddling pool parties to characters lucky enough to be equipped with rocket packs!

Topshop.com

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I’m really pleased to tell you that the all new Topshop.com went live a few weeks back. It has been by far the largest project I have worked on to date, managing to keep alot of folk here at Poke and at Topshop HQ very busy over the last 12 months!

So what about the site then - Well whilst the shopping experience side of things is nothing ground breaking (a skinned e-commerce system provided by IBM ) - We hope to have layered on the ‘good stuff’ to inspire online shoppers.

Here is a quick over view…

To start with, the ever changing ‘Daily fix’ goes some way in presenting to the user a selection of the 200 new items delievered each week to the stores, and the ‘Style Blog’ announces all current and future happenings with brand. Both features having an RSS feed attached to allow users to keep up to date easily.

Constantly rotating, image rich editorial ‘Features’ have also been added, showcasing the latest ranges, designer collections and fashion trends. As you might expect in the ipod-tatsic planet we live in, a richer, slicker editorial experience is also avaliable for download in the weekly Topshop video podcast.

Would be good to hear what you guys think?

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I don’t know too much about this project so I’ll let Iain introduce the Yahoo! Mail Championships to you, but what I do know is we want to direct traffic to it!

Perhaps you can lay down the gauntlet to your students Iman!?

I’M NOT A TRANNY

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

Two new humorous sites resulting from the collaborative efforts of Poke and Mother New York have been launched this week.

First up is ‘I’M NOT CANDY’, a promo site for a new range of candy available in the US from Mother New York.

The candy has been introduced to help US citizens ‘combat the harsh and judgmental world they live in, where people are wrongly labeled everyday before they have a chance to explain themselves’. The candy boxes giving the wrongly accused a chance to publicly display their ‘I’M NOT’ messages at their workplaces, in restaurants, bars etc.

Apart from ordering candy you can engage with a ‘comprehensive sociological analysis of the United States, based on the popularity of the ‘I’M NOT’ candy’. If you’re unsure of what box is for you there is a simple quiz to point you in the right direction!

Secondly Sour ex’s, a microsite which gives the jolted, damaged sole an opportunity to get it all out of their system by calling and leaving a rant on an answer machine. Shame the the answering machine isn’t populated yet, but the complimentary video’s are funny and well worth watching.

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

One Good Turn is a lighthearted forum website we have just launched for Orange. The site suggests numerous good turns Orange employees and customers can do to brighten other people’s lives up.

The good turn I am doing you in this post is bringing to your attention the super animations from Mr Bingo that are sprinkled across the site to illustrate said good turns.
