WHATEVER YOU THINK, THINK THE OPPOSITE

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Just think the opposite

I’ve just read this (took less than an hour!) and comes up with some very interesting points. I think everybody should read this, I think I might even take on some of the principles stated with this. One of the quirky ones I’m going to try is, when ever I have a meeting in the office I’m not going to sit down - I sit in front of a computer way to much and it might give a new perspective on comon ideas.

You can buy it here (I’m not saying you should, but I think you may have to!)

Creative Mind

Friday, November 10th, 2006

“3 worlds to discover distinct aspects of the creative mind curosity, gut feeling and intuition… filled with video interviews, product try outs and tutorials”

You may have seen Adobe’s Creative Mind posted on various design feeds this week. If not, its a new promo site for Adobe’s Creative suite.

I really admire the love that has been put into the production, a standard that is unit 9 through and through. The beautifully illustrated animation details are amazing, an adventure game-esque interface presents an experience of discovery similar to that of Jakub Dvorsky’s classic Samorost.

Saying all of this though, my participation stopping at playing with the characters that inhabit the planets is perhaps not the complete user journey Adobe desires.

Italy and Nike

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

I keep seeing these posters crop up on the big www, so I had to post them in case you’ve managed to miss them. I think they’re great - produced by the Amsterdam Wieden Kennedy shop for Nike to commemorate the Italian success at World Cup this summer.

Five’s a Crowd

Friday, September 15th, 2006

‘In honour of this October’s resurrection of The Secret Policeman’s Ball, Amnesty International and Mother have created a series of online films. They follow the exploits of The Protect The Human Players - the world’s first and only issue-based sketch comedy troupe - and their efforts to earn a spot on the Ball with their cutting edge comedy.’

The first epsiode has gone live today.

Geographically targeted ads

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

London buses are to be fitted with GPS advertising, as Yell.com in parnership with AKQA are set to launch a campaign to raise awareness of its local search facility.

Leading the campaign from the bus lane is a fleet of intelligent buses, which have been fitted with digital LED panels that display messages highlighting local businesses based on the bus’s geographical position.

The campaign also includes interactive bus shelters, online ads, posters, TV sponsorship and cinema, read more here.

Parra does Heineken

Monday, July 31st, 2006

During my recent visit to Nice I spotted this campaign artwork for Heineken around town. ‘For a fresher world’ is illustrated by one of my favorite illustrators, dutchman Parra, you may recognize his style from previous campaigns for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
