Louis Kahn

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Salk Institute

Briefly channel hopping I came across, ‘My Architect‘ a film by Nathaniel Kahn about Louis Kahn, on BBC 4. It was a really moving film, which I watched parts of.
I wont pretend I know anything about architecture, but I really do like his work. Its not surprising that his charismatic identity permeates every single detail of his gorgeous structures to make them into inhabitable monoliths, these are works of a man truly devoted to his art.

Run London and Google maps

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Great integration of google maps on the campaign site for Nike’s Run London.

I’m told by a reliable source that ‘this is a really really smart utilisation of Google’s mapping API. It allows users to overlay and share their running routes. You can search for routes by postcode, type of terrain, whether it’s well lit at night and more….’

Saying this though I’m still not gonna do the run…But what does API really mean?

UnitedVisualArtists

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

UnitedVisualArtists has some really beautiful work. UVA are able to seamlessly fuses graphic design and technolgy in to stunning pieces of art work and I am amazed by the depth of the work. If you’ve seen this before then you know what I mean and for those that have missed it like me are gutted it took so long.

Couple of things to note - americans eat to much pizza and to fellow members their site runs off word press, which means that we could think outside the box visually, but thats another day.
